“Smiley Face Regret: Choose the Perfect Backpack for Your Child”

Untitled design (34)

School has started, and most parents have already purchased backpacks for their little students. We hope your choice was a good one, unlike the first backpack I bought for my kindergartener.

His eyes were wide with excitement when I pulled a round, yellow, smiley-face backpack out of a brown shopping bag. “Wow, Mommy! This is the best!” He lovingly rubbed the slick plastic sides.

His love affair with the bag was undeterred even when its circular shape caused the corners of a standard 8.5×11-inch paper to shred as the oversized zipper was pulled around the circular track. For a few weeks, everything I read looked like rats were living in the backpack, enthusiastically chewing on the corners.

A month into kindergarten, the eager student brought rectangular reading books home. This was when he informed us that the backpack he once loved was “crap.”

The moral of the story? When choosing a backpack for your child, consider its functionality. While colorful and whimsical designs are fun, ensure the gear comfortably accommodates their school essentials. Look for rectangular or square-shaped bags with ample space for books, papers, and supplies.

Remember, a happy smiley face is fantastic, but a backpack that doesn’t eat your child’s homework is even better!
